Two weeks after iPhone firmware 3.0 beta 3 Apple has released iPhone 3.0 beta 4 (7a300g) to those participating in the iPhone Developer Program. So far what’s new in this latest beta is the Store settings pane is now functioning. Once you are signed into your iTunes account you can edit your payment settings. Will update this thread as more info from beta 4 comes in.
iTunes 8.1.1 restores beta 4 firmware just fine . . . well until the end. Nice error 10. Installing iTunes 8.2 and restoring on beta 4 works fine.
After you take a pic you have the option of re-taking.

Tethering already enabled without patching (possibly only if you had it enabled before restoring?). I can’t confirm this with my phone.
Error 3004 probably means iTunes can’t connect to Apple servers to verify you have a dev account. Open port 8080 on your router.

iTunes 8.2 was also pre-released. Now iTunes checks that you are a registered developer before updating your iPhone. Macrumors is reporting that iTunes 8.2 carries Blue-ray references to Gracenote that could suggest that itunes might support Blueray reading

Russian hacker Vortex has released a beta version of a 3.0 Jailbreak. It is packaged in the Dev Team’s windows Quickpwn software and reportedly works on the iPhone 1st gen, iPhone 3g, and iPod Touch 1st gen. It unfortunately does not install Cydia instead it only installs Icy. However you can install SSH via Icy and then install Cydia manually . On the plus side the download is only 3.2 mb because it is only packaged with Icy.

Be warned this is NOT Dev Team approved. This 3.0 Jailbreak while using the Dev Team’s Windows jailbreak software and method is not using files packaged by the Dev Team. If you are worried about the possibility of breaking your phone then we do not recommend using this beta Jailbreak. On the other hand it has been reported to work so if you are feeling adventuresome this may be an option.

Note: This will not unlock your iPhone 3g. Don’t ask.

Last week I had the pleasure of trying out the new iPhone 3.0 OS. First I will have to say that I really like all the new features. The copy and paste worked great for me. All the new landscape features were quite nice also. A lot of questions have been coming up though regarding the landscape SMS and MMS now being built into 3.0. I know many people will be satisfied with the stock app when 3.0 arrives, but I believe there will still be a large market for QuickSMS. The stock SMS app in 3.0 runs quite well for what its supposed to do, but it still does not give the functionality of QuickSMS. QuickSMS has revolutionized text messaging giving the consumer complete access to SMS anywhere in the OS.

iPhone 3.0 is coming summer.

And while the baseband IS updated in this firmware (so if you’re yellowsn0w unlocked, DON’T upgrade til a proper PwnageTool version is out), 3.0 is already jailbroken, so say the Dev Team on a recent blog post.
